Herrick has been recognized by his peers and professional organizations for his qualifications, achievements, and results. Texas Monthly and Thompson Reuters recognized Herrick Sovany as a SuperLawyer Rising Star, an honor distinguishing lawyers from more than 70 practice areas for their professional achievements based on peer-ratings. With years of experience in personal injury and civil litigation, Herrick Sovany handles all types of litigation matters from simple car wreck cases to complex business disputes. Herrick regularly advises clients on sensitive business issues including business formation, contract drafting and review, and human resource matters. Herrick also advises domestic and international clients on a vast array of issues, including business and personal matters.
Herrick has gained extensive experience in litigation and non-litigation matters throughout his years of practice. Herrick began his legal career working for a nationally recognized boutique litigation firm in Houston, Texas, where he handled some of the most complicated personal injury cases and handled mass tort dockets, including Vioxx litigation and breast implant cases. With his deep experience handling virtually every type of plaintiffs’ case, he is able to quickly assess the potential merits of a diverse range of cases and success of winning at trial. Herrick is routinely recognized by clients and attorneys for his ability to prepare cases for trial, yet use his economics background to create innovative settlement solutions for his clients to achieve the best result with the least risk. This is one of the reasons why former clients and fellow attorneys often refer cases and matters to him.
Herrick has conducted risk assessments in many countries, third-party due diligence, domestically and internationally, as well as statistical modeling on various compliance data points to identify trends and assist with resource allocation. Herrick also has significant project management experience including synthesizing the efforts of law firms in nearly thirty countries to collect legal research on various legal areas.
Herrick also serves as liaison or outside general counsel for several businesses in Houston. In this role, Herrick advises clients on business formation, long-term planning, employee relations, collections, agency inquiries, and liability issues. Herrick also leverages his deep experience as a plaintiffs’ lawyer to assist clients with responding to helpline issues ranging from human resource issues to fraud. He teams up with additional consultants and other lawyers in specialized fields to ensure the client’s needs are addressed on all fronts. Herrick also prosecutes or defends cases on their behalf.
Herrick was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He has a French background and has dual citizenship, United States and French, which has proven helpful in international business matters, and is currently on the Consulate General of France in Houston recommended attorney list. He is also active in both the French-American Chamber of Commerce of Houston and Italy-America Chamber of Commerce of Texas.
Herrick is licensed to practice law in all state courts in Texas, and has been admitted to practice in the United States District Courts in the Southern, Eastern, and Northern Districts of Texas. He is also a member of many professional organizations, including the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA), the Houston Trial Lawyers Association (HTLA), Houston Maritime Arbitrators Association (HMAA), and Houston Bar Association (HBA). In 2015, he became certified by the State Bar of Texas to act as a Guardian/Attorney Ad Litem in Texas courts and probate courts.
